True Blue Friends
Have you ever had a friend that looked out for you when you were sad, she made you get out of the house to go to a movie - when you were happy, she took you to the park to swing, walk and talk - when you were blue, she let you soak her shoulders with your tears - when you were quiet, she pretended not to notice and chatted cheerfully to cover-up the awkward silence you created, when you wanted to be alone, she offered, I'm here if you need me, just call, when you sick - she brought you chicken soup for the tummy, vicks for the nose, and chicken soup for the soul, when you were lonely, she said let's go for a manicure, when you were desolate, she said, I'm so mad that you are hurt, when you needed a friend, when your children were rejected, she and her husband brought your child gifts, money, even their puppy to shower your rejected son with kisses, and when you wanted to be alone in your sorrow, she whispered that she was only a phone call away when you knew she was closer than the air you breathe, because you TRUSTED her, you CONFIDED in her, you had no need to FEAR, you were safe, because you were loved - unconditionally, all the time, night and day, day and night, day in and day out, in sickness and in smiles, in laughter and in tears, in sorrow and in hope, always cheering you on, always there, always a good word, always a kind word, always overlooking your faults, always there, always, always DONNA. Thank you for making life sweeter for me, a hundred times a hundred times. This friend has made the bitter times pale in comparison to what her love is like - it is agape love, that is, Jesus love, the kind that sisters share.
